Im no Marty McFly but still i tried
i must admit, i trimmed a bit
i could have lied, but then id die
i have only had about 4 hours of practice on this and im not finished
tab is here: http://www.guitaretab.com/c/chuck-berry/24395.html
I want to put up a little defense,
although Chuck Berry made this a song in 1958 i think it deserves
more respect then being filed strictly under oldies,
i know its not exactly classic rock,
but i like to think if it as one of, if not the first
true Rock and Roll songs,
Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry - Year 1958

^_^ i just started learning this yesterday
so its still rough,
i recorded this by plugging my guitar directly into my sound cards mic jack using a simple 1/4 inch to 1.5mm adaptor since im too cheap to buy a usb audio interface (not that it would work with windows 98)
what little distortion i did get i did by switching my sound cards preamp on.
otherwise its raw
i would have used some effects or something but i like to practice with a clean sound, :D it lets me hear what mistakes im making.
the guitar is a Galveston, its a strat copy but its small like a cheap squire strat
the strings are very close togheter and i have huge hands, so... its a little harder to fret without hitting unwanted notes, my acoustic has a wide neck and its much easier to play this on it.
im still lernin though :D
and that pause:
i had originally stopped playing for like 1.5 seconds to look where to put my fingers, i lost my position.
i removed that silence to try and pull it back togheter, if just a little bit,
i know im cheating but i just didn't want a big space there,
i would have tried to make it sound like i didn't to that at all but then i would be faking it.
this was my best take though, for the minute

Oh and one more thing:
im not using a pic, i use my fingers,
Im left handed but i hold my guitar like i would if i were
right handed
the strings are also threded righthanded,
so its a totally normal guitar and im playing it
as if i was right handed,
but im left handed,
but for some reason i can not use a pick.
i cannot hold a pick and play notes because i usually hold my left hand agenst the guitar while picking so that i can "feel" where the strings are. i cant hold my arm steady enough to be an accurate picker.
so yeah, not using a pick is part of the reason for the not so bright sound,
i have never gotten the chance to play a left handed guitar and even if i did i would be dumbfounded since i already learned to play the way i do,
i will admit i typically suck at guitar.
i know basic major chords and some
simple stuff but i dont know any scales yet.
my logic on playing a right handed guitar when i am left handed is this:
if my left hand is my dominate one, shouldnt it be doing the hard part?
(fretting)
i doubt i could play a left handed guitar at all. even if i practiced
to top that off, the medication im on makes it so my hands tremble somewhat, so im not steady. (thats why i cant hold a pick)

i have a weird picking and strumming method
i use all my fingers on my right hand to pick and strum,
i just whatever finger is closest to the string i need to strum,
sometimes i will hold 2 or 3 fingers togheter and hit a chord, and sometimes i use my "claws" :D
when i mute strings i do this weird thing where i ball up the fingers im not using to pluck about half way, then use the backs of those fingers to mute the strings,
i taught [am teaching] my self how to do all this, so i probably invented a few methods along the way. im not too sure about the ergonomics of my methods but they work most of the time,
i dont have a whammy bar on my guitar, theymake the strings break to easily
i bend the strings for pitch bends, so i cant do dive bombs or anything like that.
i own a bass guitar too, and although i dont practice it as much as i should,
to me i play it as just a much larger version of the bottom 4 strings of my guitar,
i havent learned how to slap and pop though,
most of the time im playing my keyboards or sequencing midi's though
^_^ most of my music i made using only my mouse :D
im not particulary very good at playing anything, but i do favor the keyboard.
i have tried before but i couldnt play the drums to save a life,
maybe a simple 8 or 16 beat but i can't seperate my limbs to do anything complex without inadvertently doing the same thing with 2 limbs.
