Yeah, I theorize that pokemon is actually a horrible world and that you're playing the game from the perspective of a child who's been isolated this whole time. I mean seriously, what kind of world is it that you can wonder 3 feet into knee-high grass and get attacked by the planet's equivalent of a lion within eyesight of your home. Clearly this has had lasting psychological effects on the society as a whole.
