I just realized silly me has never posted Astrid's shadow ref here. (that little dragon sketch was DarkSpineDragon's character Zeera xD NO CONTEXT NEEDED)

HERE IS SOME COMIC LORE IF YOU'D LIKE TO READ:

Astrid's Shadow is not a "dark form" nor is it an alt ego. Every creature in the ShadowLands is made up of shadow magic; demons with physical forms. Astrid's shadow has six eyes on her face and a few scattered around the palms of her wings and her tail tip. This can be seen during low sanity or in pitch blackness.

Astrid's shadow is clearly visible in "Lights Out" and "A Visit From the Grue". It is also shown on the wall of Maxwell's study room (along with Deerclops' and Dragonfly's shadows) in "Little Monsters"

It can be inferred that Astrid does not feel her shadow form. She is shown with little to no reaction when the lights go out, and seems almost unreasonably calm throughout the scene. She and the other monsters are composed of this dark energy; therefor, the darkness does not harm them.
