Suddenly I'm thinking of Kaizo Mario 64 for some reason. Do you know how you unlock the castle entrance in it?

It's a rom hack of super mario 64 meant to be ridiculously tough. Oh, and you have to talk to a bob omb buddy to open a canon door in front of the castle. he's placed right next to where you spawn when you die, but is surrounded by unbreakable boxes and another canon hatch. Solution? commit suicide to respawn inside the room. Be careful of the timing though, because there is a flame jet in the as well. The rom hack loves fire. Also, the final level requires all 120 stars rather than just the normal 70, and the entrance has been moved to where the courtyard's secret canon is (which is why you need 120. The hatch on the canon only disappears once you have all 120 of the power stars) Combine that with a final level that is entirely invisible, forces you down to 1 HP, is filled with relentless heat-seeking amps (amps never despawn unless you get far enough away, and start circling above you when they get too close making jumping near impossible) and has a nearly impossible to avoid chainchomp at the very end, and you've got a course that will make you scream with rage!
