i was sick and also having issues and not sleeping well so i doodled and it ended up being a race spread of auroral oceans oh ok
so okay
old world races left to right
we have a...
gemere, who are half-spotted deer with double spiraling horns. their horns let them read other people's emotions and that makes them have a kind of flattened aspect because how do you show emotion when you're just used to reading it off of other people's souls? some gemeren try to overcompensate with dramatic gestures though. i mean if they're socialized along a bunch of different races though they don't end up so weird? gemeren are delicate and precious. gemeren are one of the founding races of brinneland, out of their homeland of gammelern
daplin's animal, who are giant bumbling goofs who are always your best friend. they want everyone to get along and also chew huge slabs of meat with their mouths open the whole time. daplin is allegedly a god but everyone knows they're just making the mythology up on the spot whenever questioned. they speak and hear with their butt and see with their head. daplin's animals were everywhere in the old world, and are everywhere in the new world.
letrax, who are birds who don't have arms. it's tough to have to do everything with just one foot. letraxi are really smart though and also being able to actually fly is pretty cool too! this is a guy, and girls are a bit larger and have flat earth colors. letraxi mostly came from escalihax
dadal, who are like opossum-foxes. they're way emotional and prefer things relaxed and casual. dadali can take things seriously too though don't discriminate! they don't actually sleep around as much as people say don't believe the rumors! when dadali get bored with someone though they will totally just move on to someone new and exciting. dadali were the founders/majority race of the escalihax empire and behelix republic
fetrad, who are tusked horse people. the guys are full of bravado and the women are full of patience, i guess. fetradden are pretty cool fellows. they tend to take multiple wives, circumstances permitting, and they're pretty common in like every single nation so you'll always see some around. they're pretty normal, but they don't have anything working against them either! fetradden are one of the founding nations of brinneland, out of their homeland of hoalhorm
loda leech, who are colonies of leeches with a single joined soul/mind. loda leeches can rearrange themselves at will into basically any shape they want and see in all directions at once, but they have super bad myopia. they don't have gender or sex at all. they have to eat only fluids so sometimes life is hard for them because you can't drink a bread. they reproduce by just splitting in half, and each colony takes half the soul, so the children have part of the memories and skills of the parent. imagine being friends with one who splits... now your best friend is two children who each vaguely-remember you! loda leeches can mostly trace their lineage and ancient memories back to behelix
torfed, who are stilt-deer-tapir genetically overrun with a cordyceps-deal. the animal body is half dead and the fungus' soul and the animal's soul combine into a swirling mass of aurora that pilots the body like a puppet. torfedden see everything from a 3rd person perspective like it's a video game. they can do weird things with your dreams and can move stuff with their soul but can't do any of the usual magic everyone else can figure out. also they don't move their mouths when they talk, and they never make eye contact. torfedden are one of the founding races of brinneland, out of their home nation of avurhurm
iblin, who are walking tree people. they just grow up out of the ground all over with knowledge of the world and just walk right on in and join in the fun. when they get old enough they turn into giant sedentary trees that talk, until finally they bloom and explode and seed everywhere with more iblin. their soul is parceled out into these seeds, so that's how the newgrown iblin still know things cuz they have parts of older souls. in their mobile phase they eat like anyone else, but in their sedentary phase they just consume ambient aurora. iblin just kind of always are and have always been everywhere. hahaha that's outdated they're like dopplegangers now too they are the walk-plants from tombdog because they never got used well enough
these are the kind of goofs you'd be hanging out with along the auroral ocean having beach parties with, tossing the ball around until it falls into the ocean and there's no way to get it back because you will literally turn into a monster if you try to swim in it
so okay

not pictured: aventeri, crested chamelon-alligator guys who stayed behind in escalihax and probably have like 100 members in the new world at best; ca'avisi, the founding race of a'a abrin, who were the sophisticated ruling elite who stayed behind and only exist in significant numbers in the auroral confederation; eplin, who are horrifying monster rapists from a distant, unknown place
fun facts: the ancillary sefia grew up in was heavy with people of a'a abrin descent, even though dadali were a severe minority in a'a abrin back in the old world

basically the setting is the culmination of all of my settings it is everything i think is hot all in one
giant insects? yes. shape-changing amorphous things? yes. hot deer? yes. hot horses? yes. there's no where left for me to go from here i have finally settled this is my new home

i think they're lost and arguing about which way to go
since the ocean is the only main source of light, the interior of most islands gets really dark if there aren't person-made lights or the rare luminescent plantlife
it's distressingly easy to get lost
it's
not a fun adventure they are glad to be having :c

yeah the ocean is a giant rainbow sea and once you get away from that there's just the faint ambient light of stray aurora strands fizzling out into the sky
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16750139/ that's what it looks like from the beach
the sky is completely black there's nothing up there but the stray color strand
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15434744/ that one is outdated in the character designs but that's still how the world looks

yeah you can do that! it also lets you get at the ocean more easily since it's the only source of energy too so like
"digging" is a bit hard though you probably want to use controlled explosives and hope you don't like
break the island in two
just start a crack the ocean slowly forces wider
wave goodbye to your neighbors as they float further away each year

So the loda leeches don't reproduce sexually, but I really hope that doesn't mean they're not sexual. I mean, they can literally shapeshift into anything, you just have to get comfortable with fucking a hole made entirely of leeches, or letting leeches inside you. Plus, if they really need fluids that badly, and don't wanna kill you for your blood then that's a pretty fair trade I guess. But like, the colony could literally surround you and hold you still
Sorry I like this a lot

they reproduce internally constantly, spawning new leeches inside of themselves to replace the ones that die off. when they meet other loda leeches they just sometimes swap breeding stocks to keep the blood fresh and dynamic, but the individual loda leech colonies, the individuals, don't have sex to reproduce
they absolutely can have sex for tactile pleasure
they don't reach orgasm but heavy petting can feel good and i mean i guess if you're friends with one you can be like "hey do you wanna bang" and they might be like "i wouldn't get the same things out of it that you would but i mean sure"
i mean they can basically have as many holes or protrusions as they want why wouldn't you want to bang one
