13 Vegetable Stirfry
Let's take a break from Furpocalypse photos
I had a few vegetables on hand, some from the garden, some I bought, and ended up making a 13 vegetable stir fry the base recipe was lacking, so I decided to add a few more vegetables. You can also add sriracha sauce or anything to make it spicier, I added 2 tablespoons of it, and about a 1/2 tsp of 5 spice powder
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp vinegar (can use rice or apple cider I use white)
4 tsp corn starch
1-2 tbsp sriracha sauce (optional)
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp 5 spice powder (optional)
1 lb boneless sirloin steak, or chicken breast
2 tbsp vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic
2 tbsp fresh minced ginger root
1 small hot pepper chopped up (optional)
4 carrots (I used about 1/3rd to 1/2th package of baby carrots)
2 celery stalks chopped up
1 small broccoli crown cut up (I used these since I rarely use the stem)
1 small zucchini
2 baby bok choy
1/2 cup red and green peppers cut up
1/3 cup red (or white onion) chopped up
5 white mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped green beans
2 green onions cut up
Stir together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, corn starch, hot pepper flakes sriracha sauce and 5 spice powder , set aside
Cut beef (or chicken) across the grain into thin strips. In large frying pan or wok, heat 1 tbsp oil over high heat, cook your meat,
If beef cook until browned with some pink in center, chicken cook until its cooked
Transfer cooked meat to a bowl.
Add remaining oil and stir fry ginger, garlic, and hot pepper for a minute, then add your carrots, broccoli, zucchini, celery and bok choy, they take the longest to cook. I would estimate about 2 minutes,
My large frying pan was getting pretty full but was deep
add your green and red peppers, white or red onion, mushrooms and green beans and 1/2 cup water, cover and cook for 3 minutes, I added 3 extra minutes as the frying pan was getting full, the vegetables were still crisp, and didn't seem overcooked.
Stir in your sauce, and stir fry until thickened, 1 - 2 minutes, add your beef (or chicken) and any juices stir for 1 minute or until heated through, then add your green onions. and stir it a bit.
I did cook it through a bit more and it turned out pretty good, and was slowly getting spicy.
