Yay, here´s the new ESP LTD Alexi Laiho signature i bought last Monday ^^
Was very cheap because there´s one little scratch on the back of it, so I felt like i have to buy it!
Sounds very heavy and has a nice outward appearance (the inlays are not just white color ^^), it is very easy to play, especially shredding makes fun on it.
The Floyd Rose is cool too, so all in all I´m very confident with that thing :D
The only thing i miss are different modes and the clear channel is too aggressive for playing some calmer songs...

just 340€ (360-20), and yes active Humbuckers have a cooler sound, but as i said, the guitar is stil new and is not customized in any case. If you say Alexi Laiho sucks it´s your personal opinion, i like the guitar. It´s my first flying V, but i´ve tried some others before and liked the ones from ESP most. was looking for the V-500 first, but it has no floyd rose, so i decided to get this one here, also because it was ~120€ off
That's a pretty good price for a signature guitar; mine wasn't signature, but my Warrior originally cost roughly 800$ and I bagged it for about 320$ ;)
It is indeed only my opinion that Alexi Laiho is not someone you can learn alot from guitar-wise. You should take a look at Michael Romeo's Guitar Chapter video; if you practice his stuff, you would own in a battle between yourself and Laiho. It is a fact, however, that Romeo is cleaner and faster than Laiho.

Well in fact i don´t own a single chidren of bodom cd ^^'
wow, that´s a lucky coincidence! I´m getting the cd´s from symphony x for free as a friend of mine works at "inside out music" and is sometimes backstage with Michael romeo lol
He plays very cool, i like his style too, Alexi´s songs sound not bad, but the techniques are not that tricky and much easier to learn.
Must be an awesome guitar you own, did never play it unfortunately... how did you manage to save more than 50%?! o.O
What humbuckers do you use? I am not sure yet, but i guess i´ll buy an emg 85 next month, and also wanted to let a draconic aribrush be done on it ;)
(sorry if my english sounds wierd sometimes -.-)

Hint: eBay ;)
And I use an EMG-81 and 85, hence why I recommend them. :P Both actives, sound amazing with certain kinds of distortion. The clean sound isn't quite so rough as most other active pickups as well, but in the case that I need to go soft I have a custom-built Strat with passives (one of them is an Yngwie signature pickup of some kind, that's all I know about it. Used to be my dad's guitar :/ )

(Your dad gave it to you?)
I have a stret too, with 2 humbuckers and a single coil, but it sounds very crappy ^^ it´s worth only 50€ and if you touch the humbuckers it sounds like squeezing a coke tin *g* also you can´t use every mode, if both (passive) humbuckers are activated it´s that noisy you can´t hear what you play even xD

well, it´s an emg LH-300, sounds like a passive version of the emg-81, but of course it´s not the same sound like an active ^^'
Wow... yeah the signature is sick :D
Although i somehow prefere the flying v-style or explorer, i don´t know... of course these are just optical things ^^
If i had more money i would have bought an Ibanez S7320, i somehow love that guitar...

dang nice man shredding = FTW
I have 2 other strats but cheap ones that i got when i lived in the Philippines.
Horrible distortions they are
IS the pickup good with like can make good pinch harmonics because i was thinking of putting DiMarzios on my Viper since i cant afford expensive pickups

hmm... I don´t think those will do very well with pinched harmonics, because the sound is somehow too thick. I like to play scales and rythm sections with it but i don´t think you should get that ó.ò it´s more... aggressive
what about getting some new pickups on your strats then? if they have single coils too this somehow produces a very cool sound for slow and feelfull playing :3
It´s something that i miss on mine, as even in the clean channel it somehow makes a very deep and evil noise ~.~
(sorry for being absent, i was on holidays for 2 weeks ó.ò)

So sorry dude about the delay...5 months reply XD
But I finally have the money to fix up my Strat with a good metal tone, crunchy, and that gives good artificial harmonics. Im just stuck with decisions which one to buy. Single Coil EMG pickups or buy a humbucker pickguard with Seymour Duncan Blackouts. Im thinking of buying at my local guitar center.
I finally have the budget to fix up my guitars =D
Once again sorry for the l8 reply

well, i´d recommend you an emg ^^
i replaced my strat humbucker with the emg of my esp, and there i put in an emg-81, must say that it has an awesome sound, so clear. active humbuckers are really cool, also it now has a tone knob, which i will put in soon, i´ll take a picture :3 the cool thing about strats is, you have like a free choice of whether what you put in, as you´ll always find a fitting scratchplate. for metal i´d put in 2 humbuckers and no single coil

I decided to buy EMG pickups, so many good reviews on them =)
Yeah im thinking of going with your idea of 2 humbucker pickups, should be able to give more output, but Im going to have to pay extra for a scratchplate -_-, but oh well I can probably go with it still.
Alright I want to see your strat
