So this is the Camera Obscura... it takes pictures of impossible things.
- Seijiro Makabe, Project Zero 2 / Fatal Frame 2 - Crimson Butterfly
While attending a college Halloween party at a spooky mansion, Niut (who was attending the party dressed as Rei Kurosawa) stumbles upon an old camera lying on the ground before a mirror. Filled with a mischievous urge, she loosens up to take a flirty selfie for a friend in the mirror, unaware that she has stumbled upon the Camera Obscura and that the spirit Neero has decided that she wants to be in the photo as well. It seems that when Niut gets the film developed she'll be in for a shock!

Welcome to my second Halloween pic for 2015! The concept for the picture was one that I'd been floating around for a month or two prior to Halloween, given that I was playing through a Fatal Frame 1 - 4 marathon in preparation for the release of Fatal Frame 5. One of the habits I had (and I'm sure others do too!) in the game is that when I find a good clean mirror, I'll take a photo of my character's reflection in it so I'd have a shot of their costume. This was more relevant prior to the Photo mode in the Wii games. So, selfie photo taker in games dating back to August 2002!
So the idea was born of getting a picture done of a character taking a flirty / sexy selfie with the camera obscura, with a ghost appearing in the background. (Which isn't something I'd done in the games!) Niut as the photographer seemed a perfect fit with her personality, but the question of who to have as the ghost (and the artist!) remained unanswered.
Fast forward to a short while ago, and while arranging with artists for the couple Halloween pic, and a few other ones with the array of sales going on, Fluffball posted up a Halloween journal. Thinking that she had a ghost character, and knowing and loving her art style, I jumped at the chance to grab a slot. It turns out she's a fellow Fatal Frame fan! (Project Zero to those of us in the PAL regions) After digging around for different variants of the Camera Obscura, Fluff went with the one used in the Fatal Frame movie. Neero was her ghost gal, which completed all the necessary components and the picture went from concept to fully fledged commission.
And so here we have it, a wonderful, cute and funny picture of a girl, a ghost and a camera.
