I think it's also more than just the color they have in common... both of them often chase around/hang out with some one who's speedy that they can some how keep up with on foot (Sonic and Rainbow Dash) both of them pull objects out of nowhere (Amy can pull her hammer out of nowhere while Pinkie Pulls... EVERYTHING out of nowhere), and both are perky/energetic and even kind of random on occasion.
