One of the only three non-human ordained Catholic priests in US, Father Collor is a rather politicized, corrupt figure in the moreau community.

Well author claims there are no referrences to IRL people in the book, so probably not.
The character is only south-american in the origin of his strain. probably Brazilian genetechs who made a jaguar soldier species, in the book narrative. The INS gave out the names to non-human refugiees almost at random, just according to country of species origin.

Yes, the first one was overall better compared to second and third, though I do recommend reading them for more of the world's description. Nohar again is a main character of the series closing book four, Fearful Symmetries, and so far that I read it it's at least as good as first one.
There are also two other book series that share the same universe, further into the timeline, though the world of moreaus is no longer in focus there.

All right, anyway... I don't suppose you've got more detail for this kitty, do you? Alvarez doesn't seem THAT bad... I'd love to hear some backstory, maybe some dark details. Does he have a variant of his faith where chewing on humans is perfectly acceptable? Perhaps he's vaguely vampiric, or he sleeps with 'the wrong crowd'? I'm interested!
