I usually use these on the legendaries of a series
but the longest I held onto one was in Alpha Sapphire, I didn't use it on Kyogre, didn't use it on Rayquaza, but I finally used it on Dioxys which would make this the longest I ever held onto a masterball.
the shortest time: pokemon blue(gameboycolor) shortly after getting it, used it on a seaking on the way to the pokemon league x-x
