Here's another piece of fan art pertaining to yet another webcomic I like to view every now and then. This time, it's "Boomer Express" - by Tyrnn Eaveranth and Jakebe Sunraven - whose lead characters are a pair of kangaroos who make special deliveries. =OQ|
On Christmas Day, 2004, this piece of fan art with characters 'Jared Knight' and 'Vikki Havencroft' appeared in "Boomer Express". It spoofed part of the lyrics from the popular holiday classic, "The Christmas Song". Enjoy my colorful presentation...
P.S. Even though the current story arc in "Boomer Express" is on an indefinite hiatus, it WILL resume eventually. So visit the "BE" site at http://www.boomerexpress.com/ , and hope for the best...

Depends on the country. Wolfbane was the plant in much of northern Europe, because of its poisonous properties for wolves. (That's the reason behind most of the "-bane" plant names.) In England, where wolfbane doesn't naturally grow, the plant of choice was mistletoe. (Remember, Britain had druids long ago.) In other places, rye was the protective plant, because of the "rye wolf" spirit that was "taken captive" when the field was reaped.
I found an unconfirmed explination on wikipedia that may answer the question.
"According to a custom of Christmas cheer, any two people who meet under a hanging of mistletoe are obliged to kiss. The custom is Scandinavian in origin.[12] It was the plant of peace in Scandinavian antiquity. If enemies met by chance beneath it in a forest, they laid down their arms and maintained a truce until the next day." This ancient Scandinavian custom led to the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe.[citation needed]"
