I do wonder about anyone being in piracy for the "adventure, people, and excitement". The description of Captain Hujosi sounds much more like a well-armed Free Trader then a pirate, something akin to Han Solo. That carries over to Miku as well - she sounds exactly like a Free Trader sort.
Pirates steal, pillage and murder, not a very jolly pastime. Free Traders do trade honestly (most of the time!) but they don't give two hoots for authority, local or otherwise, and they aren't part of your cause or your war, thank you very much!
If anything, she and her crew sound very much akin to a bunch of Hellsparks from the old Janet Kagan novel of the same name.
(I'd probably offer her some of my cinnamon Bananas Foster. The bananas are well hidden enough that she could eat it without too much gossip. ^.^)

Don't let their friendliness fool you. At the end of the day, they still are considered pirates in the eyes of the alliance. They have no problem raiding alliance trade ships, though I do think in their case it's more survival in the emptiness of space as they don't take more than what is necessary and don't normally murder the crew of pillaged ships unless there's no other choice. They are nice people, but only if you're on the right ship.
