[GSC] - S.P.A.Z. Unit: John Carver Prologue Reference
Commissioned via
Lethal_Doors this is one of the first character references I have for my main storyline character in the Game Concept S.P.A.Z. Unit, meet John Carver.
---
This here is my first reference for the Protaganist of SPAZ Unit, John Franklin Carver.
He was seperated from his mother age 6, taken into protective custody after his father was killed in an accident, they always told him it was a accident involving Cars, Drugs and the Police. He is british born but was raised in the United States, Georgia by his late uncle and Aunt, where his Uncle later died when he reached 20 from Lung Cancer, his Aunt now resides in Canada.
Aged 22 by the time of the first "Major" Outbreak, Carver was stuck in a dead end call centre firm which was slowly being bled dry by it's incompetant boss.
Carver however did have a surprising amount of personal skills and abilities. His uncle was an avid firearms enthusiat, granted most of it was historical armaments but he taught Carver how to shoot and shoot well. While most of his training was with small caliber rifles (.22's, .223's) he trained alot in the use of his Fathers .38 Special, Smith & Wesson 64, which was the only thing he had to remind himself about his father and family. His aunt was a nurse but also had a small side business teaching Scouts first aid, of whom which Carver was infact a boy scout.
Here's some information detailing this character reference, these three represent Carver's changes as he ventures through the early prologue of the game, which follows a traditional Zombie Survival scenario but with ALOT of choices. These choices determine Carvers look at the end of some of these choices.
From Left to Right;
1. Office Carver, 8 hours Pre-Outbreak
Carver in his usual work attire, clearly having just gotten into work, sat down on his desk and taking calls while being bossed around by his moronic boss. His only EDC (EveryDay Carry) is a small shoulder bag, usually filled with some basic stuff, papers, pens, pencils, a pocket knife, a personal first aid kit (one of those little hard plastic shirt pocket types) as well some food, a mini-light on his keychain and and a lighter and some matches with his favourite brand of cigerettes (which are classic Marlboro Red). He will end up looking like this if the Player Opts to leave with his fellow co-workers instead of heading back to his apartment.
2. Ragged Carver, 36 hours into the Outbreak
This is what Carver looks like after 36 hours, if the player opted to fallback to their apartment and make it out on there own. Carver swapped his office trousers for a pair of jeans and steel toe capped work boots, appears more ragged and worn after running past the chaos and somehow ending up inside a refugee centre in the Springvale mall. Alternatively, if players decide to leave the mall in order to get out on their own, this is how carver will look after making his way to the Springvale Outskirts and finding refugee in an old farmhouse.
3. Survivor Carver, 1 year after the first outbreak
This is Carver, 1 year after the first outbreak. If the player elects to stay behind in the mall and be a samaritan, helping others escape he is found to be left behind with a large group of other survivors, instead of just accepting their fate, they bound together in a rag-tag militia group, using the Malls Gunshop and Surplus store to arm themselves with gear. Here Carver trades out his ragged office attire for a Leather Jacket, Combat Boots, Knee and Elbow Pads, a M1956 Vietnam era Load Bearing Vest with additional pouches and a Black Beanie and fingerless leather gloves. His Jacket is perhaps the most modified of the bunch, it's got Chainmail sewn into the sleeves and a steel plate sewn into the front and back portions of the jacket to protect from small arms fire from bandits and zombie bites on the arms.
And there we have it, I think I got most of it but this is just a reference sheet before I get a more detailed ref.
