[GSC] - S.P.A.Z. Unit Trooper Reference
This is one of the many things I wanted to save till last because it involves a lot of writing for me. This was designed by
Lethal_Doors whom helped me design many other different designs on concepts and such.
S.P.A.Z. Unit: Assault Trooper, Regular Core
Brief:
The SPAZ Unit core Grunt, the Assault Trooper is the fundamental core ground unit for SPAZ. Consisting of a conscripted individual or a volunteer, they are trained in convetional warfare, urban combat, small arms weapons training and squad tactics. They are neither the most well trained nor the most well armed of SPAZ Unit but they have advantages in numbers.
Equipment:
Standard Issue Equipment consists of gray BDU's, Kevlar Gloves, Combat Boots, Police Grade Ballistic Helmet with Ballistic Goggles and an optional Balaclava. Tactical Vest incorporates light body armor which is rated as Grade II (newer updated designs have reinforced armor rated at Grade IIIA) and features pouches for ammunition for their weapons.
Additional unseen equipment consists of an LED Flashlight (2x AA), Utility Knife, Radio, Field Dressing, Combat Ration, Water Canteen, Glowsticks x3, Emergency Flare x1 and Field Operations Manual.
Weapons:
The Regular Core trains most of it's units in the use of the standard issue weapon which is a signature weapon amongst the majority of the Unit. This is the Heckler & Koch MP5A2, 9mm Sub-Machine gun fitted with a Surefire Tactical Flashlight and a Fixed Stock. Regulares are issued 300 rounds (10 Magazines) of 9x19mm Parabellum Full Metal Jacket ammunition.
In addition Regulares also recieve a Heckler & Koch USP chambered in 9x19mm as their fallback weapon. They are given 48 rounds of 9x19mm Parabellum "Jacketed Hollow Point" Ammunition.
Core regulars also recieve a standard issue Combat Knife, a 6" Stainless blade with a micarta handle. It is based on the Chris Reeves Pacific brand. In addition, Regulares are issued 2x Mark 3 High Explosive Grenades.
Operational Notes:
Core regulars are trained primarily in Urban Combat and operate in squads of 12 or small fireteams of 4. They primarily work together in clearing buildings, suppressing large groups of targets and providing protection for civilian refugee's and survivors. Core Regulares are lighly armed and deal with not only Zombies but also other armed combatants such as Bandits.

Besides the reliability, good performance and common ammunition? It's a good benchmark weapon which I felt would be good to include as a Standard Issue alongside the other Standard Issue, the UMP9.
In addition I think it was mostly because in the old CS Clan Days, one of the founders had a BIG love for H&K products, even made the MP5 standard loadout for the Elite and approached me when writing the story asking if the MP5 could be standard issue. I went with it but adapted it slightly to include all the MP5 variants in some form.
The A2 and A3 are given largely to the early renditions of the Troopers, eventually when they advanced further in their goals, SPAZ could soon upgrade to the newer A4 and A5 variants. SD Models could also be equipped by Veteran Regulars in addition to the UMP45. In the story lore, the UMP9 was initially selected because of its cheaper cost but many users felt that this should be an option and thus many chose the MP5 when given the choice.
