Another picture with Caz and Hanna, in one of the cities within the wasteland between the safe zone and the giants' territory. These cities were destroyed in the early 1980's, and because of the presence of macros were abandoned by any survivors. Considering there was a safe zone just to the east (That zone, in which Kayko was born, was rampaged a decade later) there was no reason for anyone to stay. Elsewhere deeper in the macro territory there are towns of people essentially enslaved to produce food for whatever macro has control over it. Their isolation keeps them from fleeing.
Caz survives by trafficking things to these isolated communities. Medical supplies, batteries, and other necessities are the main things he carries. This is forbidden by many of the macros, who usually ban residents of local towns and cities under their control from leaving, having contact with outsiders, or even from having tv's or radios. And for this reason Caz and Hanna work largely in secret. And though the wastelands are(usually) devoid of macros, there are other things lurking in the shadows.
Infrastructure such as bridges, railroads and highways are all but destroyed. And the macros don't allow vehicles of any sort. So the best way to travel is typically by horse.

Our view really sells the desolation and isolation without losing the character. Hopefully the macro who made that particular print is more not-bad like http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20359817/ otherwise the pair of them might need to get out of Dodge.
