Once upon a time, a mighty warrior was granted one great wish for her heroic deeds. She wanted omniscience, to know all, so that she might bring eternal peace to her world. The Wish-Givers debated among themselves whether the Sight would overwhelm a mortal, even one as pure of heart as she; but, the warrior would settle for no less, and they finally bestowed it upon her.
She saw, and she could not stop seeing. The greatest accomplishments of mortals paled to the worst deeds committed to achieve them. Civilizations upon Earth grew and then fell, over and over, the same mistakes committed to end each cycle of intelligent life. Human or animal, bestowed sapience, was selfish and evil at the core. It broke her heart and her soul. This Earth and its inhabitants were not worth protecting.
Not even the fair maiden dearest to the warrior could stop her. The princess was the first slain, her eye mounted to the sword so she could behold, and perhaps one day understand, the Kindness of Death.

To know everything is to know not only the light that dwells within, but to spy the true depths of depravity that are cast into its shadow. Such knowledge breaks even the strongest, for what point is there fighting for good, when evil will always crop up and overshadow the light?
