That's so sad, and especially so because I know how true it can be. People can be so fickle about the oddest things that they consider to be "genuine" and therefore "trustworthy".
Personally, I'm rather the opposite. I think I would tend to trust an AI more than humans because an AI would have less reason to lie to me, especially if I always treated them well. ^^

Experiencing these things for myself multiple times over, both in online communities due to belief systems and real life from being "different", I know exactly what you mean. Although hell, it can easily be seen through any form of media, whether it is the news or something like a piece of fiction. It is rather sad predicament to be in.
I agree with you completely there. While it could be possible this is due to romanticizing the idea, I like to think it would be true regardless. In truth there is little need to do it in our world, but the majority think that is the only way they can get anywhere in life...
