Hey, folks--happy Monday. I had a chance to help a friend recently. She had some questions regarding thumbnails, so I roughed this out for her using PS's selection tools and five values.
If you can make an image work in 2, 4 or 5 values, you can increase the bandwidth of values from that base structure without fear of killing the image. Hell, solid value structures will come to your rescue and keep your work readable even if you don't know much about color. Without a clear reckoning of your values, however, no amount of rendering will save you from making visual quicksand. (This my students have heard from my lips, ad nauseam.)
