Avro Vulcan XH558 turns northward from Aust, Gloucestershire and flies over the horizon into (second) retirement. XH558 farewell tour 11 October 2015.

Returned to the sky in 2007 XH558 has now passed way beyond the intended airframe life and will make it's final flights in October 2015. Over the weekend of 10/11 October two tour flights were performed trying to cover as much of the UK and overfly as many sites, airfields, museums, factories (and former factories) and operational bases connected with the Vulcan and V force bombers as possible. Planned to pass over the Severn road bridges while turning to approach Filton (Bristol Aeroplane Co/BAe & Rolls Royce sites) XH558 flew direct from Filton to Cardiff and returned to cross the Severn on a line just upstream of the first Severn road bridge en-route to Gloucesters' Staverton airport. This being the home to the Jet Age museum and close to the site of the Gloster aircraft company, location of the very first flight of a British jet aircraft the experimental E28/39 during a high-speed test run by Sir Frank Whittle, and several Dowty Aerospace factories.
