Nigel Garkirl and Riou Hotaru as their younger, unevolved selves - a Ralts and a Riolu, respectively. Nigel's family would've been far more strict on his choice of garments back then, thus the suit (which he hated).

Now truth be told, it's unlikely they ever met at this age - or if they did, they did not stay close for very long at all...yet that spark of friendship could have well lived on until they got to meet again in school. Who's to say, right? ...well, aside from  Melfice I mean, Riou being his kid and all.
