They canned the xm 8, but FN won the actual contract for SOCOM

It only mentions the XM 8 as canceled in that article, the FN SCAR is currently undergoing field testing by SOCOM.

The XM 8 was basicaly a g36 with a new outer shell, and less reliability too. It had a projected service life of 40,000 rounds, and when tested jamed around 200-300 times, the G36 has a service life of 60,000 rounds and I've seen reports of the damn thing going through that without a single jam, during torture tests even.

My apologies, I thought you were talking about the xm8. The scar-l is going into production to replace the weapons for SOF forces while the M468 is suppose to be replacing the m16/m4 in normal troops.

That's called the muzzle-break; the AS50 is superior to the m82a1a in every way, even recoil.
The m82a1a was created in the 80's, the AS50 is only a few years old, and it's damn powerful; only issue now it replacing the m107's (the m107 is currently what's used instead of the m82/m95, they don't use the m82 anymore)

It may be superior and all but i just love how its the same as of the Halo series. =] Iv always loved that gun the way its shaped and stuff its pretty cool and how is it more powerful what Cal is it? i don't this thats a 50 Cal the barrel is to small.

Yeah um for all those who are talking about the DSR it's barrel isn't really that short it starts at the back where the rear magazine is. So if you really look the barrel is about as long as the gun it self
