Dex needs a vehicle to get between monster handling situations quickly - also to ferry his monster assistants around (especially Trixie - who may only weigh just shy of a tonne).
Trixie's not exactly a delicate little flower either, so the Pickup often falls foul of her weight/strength/carelessness - much to Dex's frustration/annoyance.

I dig it! I totally agree on a more beat-up look, not full-on Mad Max but certain some scuffs, rust, and dents to show it's been living a hard life. The part you marked as a winch roller is more of a protective bar to prevent the hook from rolling back behind the bumper (and tearing stuff up on its way back there). Might I recommend a slightly higher ride height for the truck? It's just to exaggerate Trixie's weight to cause the truck to comically lean back almost to the point that Dex can barely look down to see the road ahead. XD
