AboveLore Kickstarter soon guys.
Well, here is something unusual. I don't really post my very personal feeling about things on my official webcomic accounts, but this relates to storytelling for me, and it's something I heavily believe in at every aspect of my life.
This unfortunately feels a bit too crammed tho. Should've done 2 pages instead of one, but oh well, it's not the worst comic page I've done.
I never really had anyone tell me that reading was a great thing when I was young, of course I had the desire to read long stories that felt like it could exist elsewhere... "But it's not on your reading level." Nice encouragement for a 2nd grader...
After that came highschool, I was told that we read a lot in middle grade for book tests. Even though I liked focusing all my attention to the heart of a story when reading the books, the tests asked for nothing of that. It was focused on descriptions of things that happened to the minor detail, what some characters said precisely. And it was like this all the time, no questions about what the story meant, or how the characters feel, it was all treated like its some text.
Eventually my best friend was the only one to show me why reading was so valuable and I ended up reading more than I thought I would.
I imagined that Toriel would be surprised that I'm bad at keeping up with books, and I just drew based on my feelings.
I dunno, I just wanted to draw out how I felt at the moment.
(Also yeah, that dragon weird looking thing is per say, me)
Undertale is great goddamit, check it out: http://undertale.com/
