That is correct... theoretically.
Do you know about the law of thirds? Just repositionning the whale and plankton (and maybe marking the highlights in the sea more in a given area) could really have made the picture more lively without taking away the feeling of emptiness associated with the blue void.
If there's one useful thing I learned in art class... it has to be the law of thirds.

Haven't been using it because I didn't know of it before taking classes this semester. Those can be useful after all. I've applied it to the few meaningful images I draw for art class and it really does make for quite the difference. ^^
