This wreath/twist on a dreamcatcher is 99% handmade. I wove/dried the willow and grapevine using a barrel to hold the shape, then airbrushed it black. The web is handwoven in a classic dreamcatcher shape and airbrushed white. All the mink skulls and weasel/marten bones were processed by me, and the huge 'skelantula' lording it over the web was also made by me using a mink skull, coyote ribs and super sculpey. I tied the fluffy bow (I love that spider print!) at the bottom and added silk flowers, as seen.
The nightmarecatcher is 27 inches across (measuring the branch frame alone) and the skelantula alone is nearly 10 inches across at the widest point. This thing is BIG!
You might notice that those skulls decorating the wreath are all up to something. Two are playing tug o' war with a bone, one is sticking its tongue out at us with no regard for our feelings, one has a very alarmed jack o' lantern in its jaws (also made from sculpey by me) one is gnawing on a branch of the wreath and the last one is showing off a prickly, purple-tinged dried (real) desert flower in its jaws. They're a bit of a naughty bunch!
This huge piece hangs on a braided cord of black leather and can serve as a door wreath or as indoor Halloween decor...or year-round, for those who are so inclined.
The Nightmarecatcher will be (hopefully) sold at that event this weekend.
