I think the protruding grille piece is from one of the earlier design editions of the Mark 7 helmets and then GW changed it around, but I don't remember when, exactly. Which is weird considering I'm such a WH40k fanboy.

yeah i started in 2nd edition and when i first got introduced to 3d i cannot tell you how many times i redid the mk 7 helmet
5th edition is where i stopped, due to lack of interest in playing as none of my circle of friends played
part of me wants to start another patreon dedicated to "Free Marine" basically i would be making all the 40k stuff in rigged 3d models though all posts would be sfw, all models tutorials and the like would be free but if someone wanted to donate more then they could get their own chapter made.
the logic on the idea is more than a little "iffy" but i have had this silly fantasy of making all the 40k armies in 3d figure (kinda like digital action figures) and enjoy watching people make art and movies with them
