Well thank you! All I did was use the watercolor brush and dab out big dots, then I made the brush smaller and dabbed out the negative space. And then, just highlights c:
I imagine the surface is about 3 feet offscreen, so not too deep! Though you're right, the blue is a bit too deep for that...

Yeah, it's fairly simple (which is why I was able to recognize what you did, heh) but surprisingly effective!
Oh, I wasn't actually even referring to the deepness of the blue, though that's actually not even a bad thing to consider. It's more that I wonder if you wouldn't find 'light beams' at that deepness. Kind of like in this drawing: http://fav.me/d984788

Yeah, that ties into it I think! The depth of the blue would also be lessened with such an effect... Though from what underwater photography I've looked at before, the light distortion pattern is how the light beams seem to manifest under larger, less smooth bodies of water... It also depends on how cloudy it is out, etc
