Obviously, a badge for
tobiasamaranth as a trade for some awesome delicious puppy chow.
He has a lot of badges, but not really any sexy ones. So, I hope this was at least moderately successful.
I did a lot of experimenting on this badge with mixing media. First, let me state that I know absolutely fuckall about paint. Period. This is the first time I've used watercolor to paint a background, and the first time I've used it this extensively on a character for highlighting. There were a few times where I thought it was ruined. Overall, I'm happy with the effect, and I want to keep trying it so I get better at it.
I want to completely wean myself off of gel pens. As such, there is no gel pen in this picture.
There are some things that I wish were better. I had a lot of problems with the marker bleeding. I had to blend the shit out of it to make up for my relative lack of appropriate reds and oranges - I think all of the mixing contributed significantly to the bleeding. I also wish that I would have not put any acrylic on the damn thing, but live and learn. The watercolor was a lot easier for me to work with, more forgiving. But, the acrylic I have is probably from 1997 (not kidding), so it's a little hard to work with.
Final size is 3.5" by 5.5". Mixed media on Bristol board: ink, Prismacolor marker, watercolor, and acrylic.
Art by me.
Character belongs to Tobias Amaranth.
EDIT: Me English good at. Sorry, had to fix some typos.
