YM2151 remake of my previous song Outrage, composed in September of 2014 for a videogame project called Where Cowards Dare, which I will hopefully bring to reality someday. This would be the final boss music.

The original version had different drums and an extra padding synth organ with a little echo. Otherwise, the main instruments are all the same, plus a guitar-like synth from Splatterhouse 1 (Namco System 1).
And actually, this is the YM2151, not the YM2612.
YM2151 has 8 channels and 4 operators for each instrument that you can use, including special detuning and automation/LFO effects. It doesn't have PCM/DAC support, so it was often coupled with other PCM/DAC chips (SegaPCM, OKI MS6295, K053260, etc.). YM2151 is present in the following arcade titles:
• Marble Madness (the first arcade game to bring stereo sound, 1985)
• Hang-On and Super Hang-On
• Out Run
• Power Drive
• Sunset Riders and TMNT: Turtles in Time (they used the same hardware)
• Street Fighter I and II
• Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
• Splatterhouse
• NBA Jam
• Super Monaco GP
And many others, countless.
The SEGA Mega Drive console is a simplified version of the arcade machine Sega System 16 (as far as I'm concerned), and the YM2612 FM chip in it brings 6 channels for 4-operator instruments that don't include customisable LFO or alternative detuning. Plus, the sixth channel could be used to play DAC/PCM samples, and alongside it was the SN76489 PSG chip (by Texas Instruments), which didn't sound very good, but it was left for backwards compatibility with the Master System which brought it.
