I thought it would be fun to make a series of Pokemon Artcards, so here they are! =D Each individual card is 3.5 x 2.5"
Top Row: Swellow, Charizard, Vulpix
Centre Row: Pikachu, Horsea, Dragonair
Bottom Row: Chikorita, Growlithe, Vaporeon
I purposely left the scan large so you can see a little bit of the details...I highlighted them with sparkly gel pens too :) Unfortunately, my scanner ate Charizard's orange colours :( I tried fixing it, but there was really nothing I could do about that. Evil scanner =P
I'll be making more artcard sets like these in the future :) Maybe more Pokemon, maybe something else...I'll have to see ;)
Bristol board (artcard sized), inked with Micron Pens and coloured with Prismacolour markers and sparkly gel pens.

There's an LJ community for a furry artcard exchange that I'm on :)

How does it work there? I bought a pack of artcards a couple months ago so I could use my debit card at school (I had to spend at least $5), but I haven't done anything on 'em yet. FREAKING cute little pack of Bristol Board! But yeah.. how exactly do they do it?
On a side note, they're working ArtCards into some of our class assignments at school!

It's pretty much like any xchange group ;)
At the begining of the round, you sign up by replying as a comment with your character info (basically copy-and-paste the form they provide), and after a few days, the mod assigns you a person at random to be drawn on a card. They're a little more flexable on this particular community, it can be artcard sized, or index card sized. And then you just need to get it done before the time runs out (usually the end of the month or the 1st of the following month).
And that's about it =D
I know! I LOVE the little packs of bristol board! =D I also have illustration board in artcard size too, I've yet to try them out :)

Hm. That is not exactly what I had in mind, but it is an interesting site I should propably keep my eyes upon.
I was thinking more in the lines of an excisting, non furry ATC culture, like this: http://www.cedarseed.com/air/atc.html
Altough, the concept comes to be practicly the same. I have not seen many cards being traded after the first trade they're involved in...

Um... You quite lost me there... I have no idea whit kind of gallery you would mean in this context.
Anyways, the idea, simplified, goes pretty much like this. You start up by either having or creating cards. You don't neceserily know who those cards will end up to, but if you are the one creating them, the idea is to get the traded sooner or later.
This opposed to the communty you gave as an example, where you more or less trade requests and the actual cards are then made to reflect those requests.
While most trades in the ATC communit I have been involved in have been themed, I quite like the artistic freedom present every single time I'm creating a card. And off organized trades I can do what ever I wish and hopefuly someone will like the result enough to trade the card for some other card I like.

Oh! I think I understand what you mean now (don't mind me, I was up late finishing those Pokemon cards) ;)
The only thing I think I can see going wrong with this is, what if someone gets furry artcard that's adult in nature, and they really don't want something adult? Would there be a way to make sure that person will always wind up with a random, but non-adult, artcard?

Well, appart from organized trades (which usualy have certain themes and guidelines that could take care of the problem), the trades are not random. As such, even tough someone might end up offering you an adult card for a trade, you certainly do not have to accept it.
I've been wanting to start collecting these myself, and I have been working on a binder full of trades - it'd be great to have a panel at a con for just such a purpose!
Do you have to apply to belong to the exchange community? I don't see info on who can join... I want to though!! :D

For the LJ community? You gotta join the community in order to participate :) After you join the community, then it's just a matter of putting your info up and waiting to see who you get to draw for :)
I had NO idea how popular artcards were until
captainq told me about them a little while ago, now that Strathmore makes artcard-sized stuff :) Those things can be addictive to draw! XD

There's also this... not related to "Artcards" or the "Fursuiter Trading Cards".. http://www.furrytradingcards.com/
