Ambientato 20 anni nel futuro, Cody è il secondo figlio della demone regina di Obscuria Sara e del Re John, la quale ne detiene automaticamente il titolo di principe. A differenza della sua sorella maggiore Elisabeth, Cody è timido e fisicamente debole, ma compensa questa inferiorità con una spiccata intelligenza e la capacità di padroneggiare la magia nera già a soli 6 anni, diventando a soli 8 anni giovane esperto di magia nera. Questa esperienza però non bastò per uscire dalla timidezza che ancora lo affligge, in particolare dal fatto che si nasconde quasi sempre dentro un grande mantello con cappuccio, per non mettersi in mostra agli altri.
