More faces for practice. Once again some are better than others, but I suppose there's not really any avoiding that. I'm still not really worried about expressions all that much, so they're going to be largely generic for now- mostly trying to sort out style and shape, and try to make animals look like the animals they're s'posed to look like.
Quite a few cats in this one, which is another animal I felt I needed practice on so that's good I suppose. I tried a little bit to make the species of feline look like the species they're supposed to, but I didn't do the best job of that I think, heh. Ah well.
Note that the names under the faces are the account name, not necessarily the character name. Anyway, hope y'all like!

My biggest struggle is walking the line between making a species look correct, and making it look appealing, which isn't always an easy thing to balance. Sometimes I get it, sometimes not so much. I don't feel like I'm nailing it consistently when it comes to the big cats, but I do think they look alright. Just not quite how I'd like. :P
Correct and appealing are often two different things. Besides, you can't really expect to get all the details right all the time.
I guess you should focus on a handful of major traits that shows in pictures, like, big felines have big blunt snouts, large round ears and lots of fur, and stick to it when you draw. People will instantly recognize the generic species from the general looks, then fur colors and such will help narrow it down.

It's always tricky trying to draw a birdface nearly straight on like that, at least for me. Even in real life they can look a little silly if not done correctly, heh. Think I more or less got it though. Thanks a bunch! :3
I'm really not doing anything quite so formal- mostly just trying to draw while paying a bit more attention to the actual animal than I normally do. Also kind of want to explore various styles a bit more, though I have to admit I struggle to break free from what I'm used to. :P
