One of the features that's pretty much a requirement in any crabitat is that they HAVE ta have a good decent-sized 'pool' where they can drink/bath naturally...
Here is how I have mine set up... Another function of makin' sure they have this in thier tank also ensures that they will have a source to 'freshen up' even if they have ta go fer long periods without a 'misting spray' once in awhile (which I mostly do mainly fer the plants in the crabitat anyways ta simulate a 'rainstorm heh)
So here ya can see Scout demonstratin' a 'drool' after havin' taken a dip in the pool... 'drooling' is the term used ta describe herms dumpin' out the excess water in their shells... a practice they've even been known ta do selectively, carrying water to dry areas of sand and drooling it to moisten the sand to suite their needs.

It took me a minute to process all this but I final got it and I am SUPER jealous. I love Hermit crabs, almost as much as I love fiddler crabs. Their sooo cute! I love all crustaceans, lobsters with their pincey claws, horseshoe crabs, which despite being call crabs have more in common with spiders.
