Rainfeather is a G1 Pony. Her special talent is being able to make it rain through the use of a magical blue feather. However, to me, her "Cutie Mark" means a whole lot more.
Whether she is a Baby Pony, or not, doesn't matter. What does is her Cutie Mark and its depiction of a duck carrying an umbrella through the rain.
I've come to make psychological associations with her symbol. Please allow me to elaborate.
Our lives can often seem like an endless shower of hardships. However, with the right supports, confidence, and determination we can weather each-and-every difficult time in our lives.
The duck's umbrella is what we all need during hard times. The rain may fall, but we can deflect it with love, friendship, and faith in ourselves to cope with all that negatively falls upon us.
Unfortunately, challenges just don't go away. This is where the raindrops going in front of and behind the duck are relevant. The drop falling behind is symbolic of our ability to see past the traumatic time while the one moving forward is to show how there is still work to do in fully coping with and moving beyond the trauma.
Being a duck goes with the saying, "Like Water Off a Duck's Back". Ducks are also often seen as enjoying the rain through the saying, "It's Duck Weather". If we can be like the proverbial duck when it comes to life challenges we can make the most of our trials and tribulations. We learn from them with each step we take through the moist, muddy, and unstable ground. Our feet becoming proverbially webbed like the ducks so we are more able to proceed through the swamp that lies before us.
Lastly is putting it all together. Being the proverbial duck with the umbrella in the storm and finding someone who may not have an umbrella and/or spirit of the proverbial duck to cope with the torrential conditions life has given them. In this sense you lend your umbrella of support to that individual to let them know they are not alone in the storm. You remind them how your umbrella is how you know your friends, family, and other loved ones are always there for you just as their loved ones are there, too. In sharing your umbrella you provide support that allows the other individual to know they, too, can be like a duck in coping with difficult times. Moreover they too can create an umbrella of support to help lessen the chill and dampness of hardship. They, too, can become a duck with an umbrella to lend to others upon knowing their traumas are not isolated to just themselves. More importantly their supports and experience can help lesson the pain of someone else who may be lost in the rain.
Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts on this particular symbol. I've always been one who is big on symbolism. Perhaps you can share a similar story of how you identify with life in some way?

That's saddening to hear. I know a few folks who love to talk and reach out to others. It is hit-or-miss with some people unfortunately.
I'm always open for sharing thoughts and/or ideas. It's what has kept me on here for nearly 7 years. For me, FA is the most accessible web-site for me to use as an individual who is soon to be completely blind. It's also where I get the most conversations going and most importantly have never been trolled once.

I'm happy you are wise enough to know that going blind can be just as much a benefit as it is a loss. There are quite a lot of things I'll be able to do once it is safe for the specialists to remove my eyes. Plus my imagination can do all the work for everything. I find my Mind's Eye is a better judge of something than actual vision.
I'm glad you look out for everyone around here. So many come to this site in search of acceptance and understanding. I try to reach those I can in return for how so many helped me during my darkest hours. However, I know I can't reach everyone. So I try my best to keep an open door policy to show I'm just as vulnerable as everyone else while fostering open communication through relating with coping with life's trials.

Those close to us can sometimes be the ones we get frustrated with, or iffy, with the most. The nice thing is that you sound like you are at least getting a feeling for whether he is right for you before saying for sure if a relationship is worth continuing.
Dr. Wolf, MLP Analyst, did a great segment on relationships recently. It's all about knowing you are doing the right thing while not doing anything to jeopardize your feelings, emotions, beliefs, and sense of self. :)

That's actually a good reason to be on a site like this. To try and better understand those sorts of desires so you can find safe alternatives that make you happy without causing you, or someone else, harm of any sort.
I quite obviously have a thing for cartoon animals in diapers. It was a strong negative in how I felt about myself and how to act upon when I first joined FA. However, over the past seven years, I've discovered that there are other things I can do to cope with my interests that do not give off such a negative vibe while better understanding where such desires stemmed from.
I'm hopeful you are able to reach a point where you know you can be you without fearing doing any actions that would get you in trouble.

I'm thankful for having discovered so many on here who are on the spectrum. It only, to me, proves how those who fall on it tend to be some of the most creative and insightful individuals you'll ever meet.
If I ever say anything to you that does not sound right, I encourage you to let me know. I strive for positive and respectful communication between all my friends. I do not take offense if asked to clarify something, or to not say things in a certain way. It is all part of being respectful to each other whether you are on the spectrum, or not.
Would you say you've found a lot of support here on FA? Does it seem more inclusive here than in other places?
I'm going to be totally blind soon. Over the seven years I've been on FA, I've had nothing but support as I descend gradually into total blindness. I do hope you have been shown the same courtesy of being seen as a human instead of as your diagnosis.

I'm glad you feel comfortable around me. Hopefully there are others you feel the same with around here along with in other places. You learn a lot through knowing people who genuinely care about you beyond what creativity you can bring to a web-site.
My "Notes" are always open if you need to talk about anything. I do my best to repay the favor so many have done for me in helping me understand myself while accepting who I am despite those limitations I never asked for, but must cope with to make my life the best it can be. :)
