I like the formula: ((n - 3) % 9) + 3 where % is the modulo operator. Basically, take the sum of digits of my age, then the sum again, repeatedly until I get a single digit, then if it's 0, 1, or 2, add 9. (yes I know it can't come out to 0 but the modulo operator does) This way I'm always between 3 and 11.
