I'm really glad you like it. I wish I could say that the Old-timey portrait look was what I was going for but I think my pants might be in danger of catching on fire. XD. For such 'simple' looking animals, it was freakin' hard to get the shape of the face right, without markings or nuthin' to cover up the fact that anatomy escapes me.

Lucky you! There's alotta great reference pics on the internet but none of them give a very good idea of what their movement is like (they all seem to be napping...or enjoying cuddles).

You know what is really funny, when they sit they do it in the same pose as a dog. I'd love to walk one around Petsmart and see how many people ask, "What breed of dog is that?!"

I used to take my rat Mattie out in public all the time, one time this woman came up exclaiming how cute he was and asked what he was. "A filigree Siberian hamster," I said, which is a joke from Fawlty Towers. After a while I admitted he was really a rat, and the womah shrieked and jumped back, even tho she'd been canoodling with him for almost five minutes . . . I can only imagine what would happen if I walked around what's basically a rat the size of a german shepherd

That could only end in hilarity, and me demanding pics. Srsly. Also, wtf, what's up with people being down with all of the other rodents other than rats? I mean if someone's keeping them as pets then they're not likely to be like alley rats, then what's the big deal? I just don't get people sometimes. -_-

Especially since hamsters are bad-tempered, inbred bastards while properly raised rats are sweet, smart, entertaining and more trainable than most dogs! feh.

Feh Indeed. I always wanted rats...my mom would never let me get them while I lived at home. Now that I live on my own, I'm too poor for pets. I actually do appreciate the irony of the circumstances.
