There was once a boy to whom the heavens granted a star. He took it with him everywhere he went and it kept lit the darkness of night around him. Soon, others saw the light he carried and, having none of their own, followed him through the night as he helped them to see. They offered nothing to him in exchange, but soon they depended on him to light their way every time it got dark. The boy grew tired and weary having to light everyone's way so often that he found relief in the night that it eventually stopped shining and the darkness engulfed him too.
