Whats funny is I was this on the front page of oakaki, and I wondered if I could find this somewhere where I could favorite it (like here or dA), but I was on a mission to submit something and forgot about it. Then, I was looking through the favorites of someone who had just left me a comment, and I find this!
Small world. :P
Small world. :P
I was going to comment and fav this when you first posted it, but i was running out the door and TOTALLY forgot!
First off. Brilliant.
Your subtle use of shading and overall simplistic lighting makes for a very dramatic yet elegent piece. Props.
Second:
Most artists can't say they kept it simple while still achieving what was desired in the piece. Some try and leave out lines and replace them with tones in the highlights and shadows, and usually you never see them pull it off. But here, you did it perfectly. It's not too "in your face" and overly dramatic as to catch the eyes of the passerby. But to a fellow artist, the effect is appreciated, not unnoticed.
I'd say more, but there's not much left. Other than i think you have a pretty good grasp on your anatomy and pose. That's something I envy in you, and several others who can actually draw... What I'd give to be able to ><
Anyway. Ya, it's good. I hope to see more in this style in the future. It really suites you, and also has a very..... what's the word.... "graphic design"...ey.... kinda feel to it. If that makes any sense..
Keep it up. ^^
