Whoa... this picture just shows what goes on at large reenactments. Reading Air Show, 2007. It is just wrong on many levels. If us furries are ever approached by a war reenactor with any criticism, pull this picture outta your wallet and show 'em. They have NO room to disparage us.
A german SS officer behind a GI 30 cal? Not bloody likely. (BTW a 30 AND a 50-cal Ma-Deuce MG on ONE jeep? Not bloody likely either) Euro-travel emblems? Not likely. The sky-blue stahlhelm with the feather? HA! WTH? The oil-resvoir? Its a brit desert commando raider thing. The blackout covers on headlights were a shipping/convoy device in N. Europe. Too many weapons and too much radio/demolition/rations crap on a single 1/4 ton GP vehicle. And those guys... I'll admit they're having fun with their man-toys, but like me, they're way too old for soldiers. Don't EVEN ask me about the uniforms.
The fact that I am near 60, and this kind of history- inaccurate portrayal is why I have given up reenacting in favor of being furry, (which is what I wanted to do in the first place...)

Just noticed the rifle on the windshield 'holster' - It's a m1903A3. Possible, but more likely that jeep driving soldiers would have preferred a Garand in that spot. There is a Thompson, but its covered under a signal corps flag set.
Sorry. there is a too much militaria on just this one vehicle- almost like the owner is trying to make a museum display, and not regarding historical accuracy. And he needs to wear a more period -accurate uniform.
I do not usually criticize other reenactors as 'farbs' (we are all trying to learn by experience) but this crosses a line.
