"We'd been working together for years now. He's always been handsome and charming - but I never pushed my luck, as he had obligations back at home and all, you know. Kind of a pipe dream. So I was caught pretty off guard when he started hitting on -me- on one of our out of town business trips.
Well, I never knew it in him to be so charming in all these years, and one thing led to another and we were settling into his room. The storm outside was prett intense, but that only added to things - until with the flash of lightning, just at the right moment, I thought I picked something out of the corner of my eye in place of my business partner right there on that bed. I must be going crazy..
With a feeling of absolute terror and dread, I stammered out some excuse and ran out as quick as I could. It's probably just the jet lag or something, you know? Maybe the drinks. I'll sleep off this whiskey, get some sleep and apologize in the morning. We head home in the afternoon."

I know too well that the point that follows this sentence is completely incorrect but I feel that the image could have been something even more intense and psychologically strange if it were in mind.
I read the first two paragraphs and, to be frank, assumed that it was one head of the creature talking in her thoughts about the other. It does indeed sound odd...yet rather intriguing. The complications that could have ensued may have been the very same complications that you yourself desire in your decision to leave out context.
Otherwise the image is typical of your style; dark and haunting, somewhat blurred into adding obscurities and painted with a very good hand.

Its the sort of business partner that I'm sure could be a benefit during hostile takeover negotiations, the kind when you lock two people in the room and don't let them out until they reach an agreement. As long as they're on your side, you're ok.
