Ahh, I see. I wouldn't say it's common; just simple, which is what I like about it.
If you were to make it super fancy, it would suck up all the attention, and that's no good. But then, I was never a big fan of things that are too 'busy', even if they're well done, so I could be wrong.

She can also be drawn more animal-like, as well, but I didn't put that. What I mean by that is more paw-like hands with paw pads, and digitigrade legs. x3

ugh yeah x.x I struggle with paws so much. I've been trying various styles, but drawing them always takes me like THREE TIMES LONGER to finish a picture XD because I keep erasing and re-drawing them <.<
Can never get them to look allright and cute like many other people seem to pull them off ^^;

The hand is an edit of a Konata Picture I've found xD (Konata from the Lucky Star anime ^^)
Her hand is in chibi-style and I just kinda widened it, made the fingers shorter and added the padspots XD... But it's nothing I can claim all too much credit for :P
