Danielle is not traveling alone. I don't think that her vulpine carriage-mate is particularly fond of her pet. They do have some vocal cords on them, cockatiels do.
Bird people...yes I know, Flitter has an awful cage. I based it on an antique I saw somewhere. In the 1800s, we didn't know what we do now regarding parrot care. Since Danielle has tamed Flitter, however, he gets better care than many contemporary parrots.

"Queep"=the way my friend Illucian describes the sound a cockatiel makes. Many parrots are louder, but there's something about the shrill one-note of a 'tiel that goes straight through the eardrums!
And we'll assume here that these fox people have better ears than we do.
