Hour or so vent sketch of an extremely angry Sen (A Nyxian, my own species) doing a threat display in advanced stages of agitation.
drawn after becoming quite angry today in the middle of my stream.
Senaru belongs to me don’t steal/reference/use/ so on so forth art is mine.
Vent art made me feel moderately better, but I need to get it off my chest....

Nyxian Threat Display
A nyxian Threat display to the degree shown above is at a stage of agitation the likes a being would probably not walk away from, or potentially even survive. Nyxians, as some of my watchers know, are large sentient bird-like beings (Shown here in flight). Though typically in a humanoid bipedal form, if for some reason you have manage to agitate a Nyxian while it is in its avian form, leave before it gets to this degree. If not already moving on all four limbs (As shown, the wing hands allow for mobility on all fours) the Nyxian will drop down and arch its back, puffing up its feathers. The tails and tendrils (Five per shoulder, five per hip for a total of twenty tendrils, and in this type exampled above, seven 'tails' as well) fan outward in warning, showing that they are there and waving them to some degree. The tails may shake or vibrate at the plume-like tips.
If for some reason the Nyxian feels that its own life is in danger, the level of fear-induced adrenaline will cause a quick-drying toxin in the skin to release and coat the avian's feather-dust. The nyxian's wings will usually tuck upward and cross eachother, lifting the spinal feathery mane forward, the feathers splayed but not yet in motion to kill. This is still a warning after all. If this warning is not heeded, the nyxian will shake its coat of feathers rapidly, some even choose to flap their wings and send clouds of toxic feather dust in the agitator's direction. This toxin can be extremely deadly, especially in eyes, nostrils, mouth or any other open cut or open thing a being might have. otherwise, contact with skin will cause a nasty quick spreading rash, which some are even allergic to. If this warning is not heeded and the Nyxian not left alone, the tails will whip wildly, the hand-like structure hidden under the coat of feathers in the plumes flared out to grab and deliver a venomous jab with the five tiny, needle like talons in each and every tendril. (recall, 20 total tendrils between shoulder and hip five per, and seven total on the tail).
A nyxian's flesh and blood is poisonous, but they are also venomous, as noted by the toxins in the skin, and in each tendril, delivered by way of very sharp, hollow talons (In the tendrils at least.) A nyxian despite having a beak, does actually have sharp fangs lining the inner row of the beak. These teeth are typically folded back toward the throat, with a larger pair folded neatly in the top mandible. Depending on the type of Nyxian, some breeds even have these fangs visible as they are too long to fold neatly, but that is not this type shown above (Which is the nearly extinct Arctic breed of nyxian). Invenomation may be delivered by way of bite, or tendril talon, by way of the powder (if agitated), and by way of the talons on their hands and feet, which have a small hollow channel. Venom glands may be found in many places in the Nyxian body and it is not known how or why they evolved to this degree of deadly. Despite this, most Nyxians are in fact, quite nice to be around. Agitation causes an over production of venom so they are often more or less not too dangerous in friendly company, and their feather powder is not considered dangerous unless coated (the coated dust, if in the air or on the body will have a clear, dried on material, sometimes clumping bits of the powder together).
If at the point where the venom is threatened to be used and not heeded, the nyxian may use its long central tail (Always the longest tail) if it wishes to keep its distance. Nyxians are not cowards, for surely you are wondering why a Nyxian would not fly away if threatened. They will fly if the fight is not worth it, but are often protecting others if they have gotten to this stage of threat. An avian being can only carry so much, and it wouldn't do to leave friends with whatever deadly or annoying thing is there. A nyxian would often rather face its enemy than flee, in hopes that the aggressor will learn its lesson and leave (Or else perish).
