Sorry again, for the lateness of this chapter, few things happened. Stuff involing my brother being one. That and originally wanted another way to go with this. But changed my mind, of course, my original plans will still happen of course. Just further in.
Anyways, this is basically character development, and exploring ither things. The Nairm will be mentioned agian, and may have something to do with the Nexians, what, I can't say :)

The curve of the planet approached swiftly, filling up the view screen as Freya began to descend through the upper layers of the planet’s atmosphere. The friction started to heat up, Freya’s underside as she continued along the flight path. The hull, glowing red as the rushing atmosphere heated it up. “How you holding up, Freya?” Gem asked, looking towards the white serpent. “Same as always, the friction doesn’t bother me. And my outer shell is holding” she replied, yellow-green eyes turning to face the coyote. The serpent’s fine white fur gliding over the smooth floor with ease as she moved around the bridge, looking from one to the other.
“All systems look good. Though seem to be picking up something odd on the sensors. Not sure, could be a sensor ghost” Christie said, hunched over the sensor readout. “Sensor ghost?” I asked, turning to face her. “Yeah, does happen when entering a planet’s atmosphere. From time to time” she explained simply. “But you said it’s odd. If it happens sometimes, why is this one odd?” Gem asked, glancing over at the vixen taur. “This one seems to be following our path, could be a ship. But I can’t tell, could be nothing” she said with a simple shrug, before going to look at another screen.
“What do we know of this planet?” I asked, as Christie looked up at me. “Not much, it’s a simple waypoint planet, with a few spaceports and refuelling stations. It does have a low population compared to most planets in this sector. But it does get visited quite a bit” she explained, looking back to us. “Mostly plains with a few oceans and forests, from what I gathered on the sensors” Freya added in. “Yeah, as said, mainly a refuelling planet. Some ruins here and there, connected with some old race” she said. “Really?” I asked, curiously. “Yeah, an old wolf like race, it’s not really known what happened to them. Some say that writings on this and other worlds, say they ascended. But it’s an old language, which hardly anyone can translate. But hey, that’s part of the fun with learning about an ancient race” She said, smiling a bit. I chuckled and nodded, “Agreed. Let’s hope there is some near where we will land. I wouldn’t mind looking at it” I replied as I turned back to watch the planet grow larger in size.
After final confirmation, Freya was allowed to land as Gem walked from the bridge towards the hanger. Alruna sat in a corner, staring out at the open hanger doors. “Sam awake?” the coyote asked, as the Birdplane shifted her gaze to her. “She is sleepy soundly. What brings you here Gem?” Alruna asked her voice lowered as she spoke. “We are approaching a planet, just thought if we extend her a chance to come out and explore a bit” she replied, peering up at the experimental sentient vehicle. “Hmm, I will ask, but highly doubt she would leave. Not without me, at least” Alruna said, looking back towards the door. “Well, don’t worry; we are trying to find a way. I am sure you will not spend all your time locked up here” Gem encouraged her, smiling a little. “I know. And I just hope it comes a bit quicker” she explained.
Gem nodded, as she walked over, placing a hand on Alruna’s leg. “I know Christie is still trying to work out what sort of fuel you take. As well as get those replacement parts. It will take time, I am not sure how much, but you will be up and out there soon. I hope so at least” Gem said, hoping the words give the Birdplane some comfort. A small smile and a nod gave the coyote some relief as she smiles and nods in return. “Just let Sam know, that the invitation is there” she said with a smile.
The Birdplane nods before looking back to the view as Gem turned and walked out of the hanger. She paused as she reached up and adjusted her hat, before continuing on her walk. Necetra and Serra her next stop, planning to invite them along as well. She hummed a little tune, walking down the corridor, smiling a little. It was a tune she had heard her Aunt sing a bit while she worked. Her smile grew more a bit, as more memories came forward.
She remembered the playing she had with her friends, Kolt and Calliapin. She missed the Mare and the Border Collie a lot, missed the misadventures they got into. She smiled a bit, remembering the time when they accidently let the cattle out of the field. Calliapin’s mother, Carmen was not happy, but the girls still chuckle at the memory. Oh sure, they got grounded until well into the next month, but to them it was worth it.
“Taking a trip down memory lane, eh Gem?” a voice said, from behind the coyote. Gem’s thoughts back to the present, as she recognised the soft, refined voice that sounded almost angelic. The coyote turned around to face the owner of the voice, and smiled a bit. “Hey Serra. Yeah, I am” she said with a small nod. The anthro Drakenfox nodded a bit, her blue fur looking kind of silky today, as the stripes glowed softly. Gem’s eyes flickered to the small glowing orbs, which seem to float just a bit off her body. Her mind wondering a bit, just how she did that before she shook her head.
“I was coming down to tell you and Necetra that we are going to be landing on a planet soon. We are going to have a look around, there are some ruins that are said to be interesting” the coyote gunslinger explained. “Well, I will ask her. Though I am sure she would want to go have a look” Serra said, with a slight nod. “I take she is sleeping though?” Gem asked, as Serra gave another slight nod. The coyote just smiled a bit, “Tell her when she wakes up. We’re going to be here for a day at least, or enough time to have a look at these ruins.” The anthro Drakenfox nodded again, smiling a bit more, her yellow eyes having a bit of amusement to them. The coyote gave a final nod and turned around, back to Serra as she started to walk again.
Before the coyote could get far though she felt two arms wrap around her, as well as weight being pushed against her back. Looking down, she saw blue fur with yellow glowing stripes lining the arms. She couldn’t help but smile, as she looked over her shoulder, seeing the mysterious girl smiling softly. It did strike Gem that; they didn’t know anything about her that she just came on board a couple years ago. ‘I think I may have to bring it up later’ she thought. “Thinking again, Gem?” she asked, as she let go of the hug. Steeping back, Serra smiled as Gem turned around to face her again. The coyote looked at the smiling anthro Drakenfox, before turning away with a smile. ‘She is cute when she smiles’ Gem thought, before blushing softly. She was surprised that thought came into her head as she quickly said, “Hopefully I will see you and Necetra on the planet.” With that said she headed back towards the bridge, as Serra turned, opening a portal and stepping inside it to her and Necetra’s room.
Gem entered the bridge as Freya made the final course, to land in the spaceport bay open for us. “Enjoy your stay” the space port official said over the comm. “We will try” I replied, as I nodded towards Gem. After making sure it was off, Gem walked over placing her hand on the chair. “I have talked to the others, and asked if they would come. Alruna and Sam, I think will stay. But seems like Serra and Necetra, will come along” she said as I nodded a bit. “Well, at least we are trying to get the crew to do more things together” I said with a smile, looking up at her. She nodded, giving out just an “Mmmhmmm.” I smiled again, as I leaned upwards, as she smiles and begins to lean downwards. Our faces getting closer, as our lips were about to meet.
“Alright, we landed” Freya said, interrupting us. We quickly moved away, and I looked at Freya. “Sorry” the Serpent said, before she turned away, a smile on her face. I gave a slight sigh, as I turned back to Gem. “I guess we can take a raincheck on that” I said as I gave the coyote a slight smile. “Ok, I will hold you up to that” she replied with a smile of her own. I turned and looked at Freya, seeing the serpent smile slightly as she gave a small chuckle. I swear, she must of picked this up from somewhere. ‘More than likely the kitsunes back in the clan’ I thought, a small smirk forming on my muzzle.
Steam rushed up from underneath Freya as the decompression started, landing gears unfolding as they came into contact with the metal ground of the spaceport. Crates stood along the walls, ready just in case a ship needs them. A ramp lowered as the first door of the Airlock opened. “Decompression done” Christie said with a smile, as she looked from the controls. “Good, don’t want anything nasty to happen to us” I said with a nod, as I stood up. “Freya, you going to join us?” Gem asked looking down at the serpent. “Hmmm, think I will stay for a bit” she said, her eyes looking around the bridge. “We should start setting up shifts eventually” Christie suggested, as I nodded in agreement.
The insider door of the airlock opened, as the decompression cycle ended. The slightly sweet smell of the planet’s air blowing in allowing us to get a good sniff of this world. “I think this might be an enjoyable stay” I said to the others, as they nodded in agreement. With another deep breath of the air, we started down the ramp, our feet touching the metal as we crossed the bay. I spotted as I turned and looked up the saucer shape of Freya, before looking at the hanger. I smiled a bit, as I saw Alruna looking out, and I thought I saw Sam looking out as well. “Don’t worry, we will ask around!” I called up towards them. I saw the Birdplane move her hand as she gave an ‘Ok’ sign as I nodded back in return.
The large metal door at the over end of the bay, slid upwards, metal gliding up as hidden machines went to work. Once it was high enough we continued to walk, stepping through the usual scanners, as they made sure we didn’t carry anything dangerous. “Which of you is the captain?” one of the security officers asked. I stepped forward and raised my hand, “That would be me.” “Alright, Captain Holdam was it?” he asked, looking at his Com-Tab. The device acted like a more powerful version of a tablet, and acted more like a handheld Desktop Computer; at least that’s what I basically gathered, when Christie explained it to me. Though she did say, I think, that there were some limitations to the Com-Tabs.
“Yeah, that’s me” I said with a nod, shaking myself out of my thoughts. “We were told that you got company to meet up with at Ruin Site 14. As well as some supplies you needed” the guard said looking back up. I nodded a bit, as I reached into my pocket and pulled out some galactic crown sticks. “This should be enough, shouldn’t it?” I asked, as I held up three. The guard nodded as he typed away on his Com-Tab. He reached out and pointed out, “Just head to the desk there, and we will get it sorted out.” I nodded as I turned and walked over there.
It took a few minutes, but all the paperwork was done as I asked the others on Freya if they can help with the supplies. After getting confirmations, I smiled as me and my little group continued on our way into the world. Freya wasn’t like her mother, who was a cargo ship I think, but Freya was more like an exploration ship. From what I gathered at least and she does fit the bill if you asked me. But I know she wasn’t as self-sustaining as her mother.
I turned to the others as a map came up, “Alright, looks like the ruins are not far.” “Should take us, maybe half an hour or so to get there?” Gem suggested as she studied the map. I turned to her and nodded a bit, before we started off. “Let’s try to have a nice time here, take in some info the people here, picked up on the species the ruins belonged to” I said as Gem gave a bit of a chuckle. “Always wanting to learn?” she asked glancing at me. I just grinned, and replied, “Yep!”
The trip from the space port, took a little longer than half an hour, as we arrived there forty-five minutes later. The ruins looked to be of what could have been a gathering in this ancient culture as we got closer. My mind went into full curious mood as I walked closer, I glanced just a bit at Gem as she gave a small chuckle and a roll of her eyes. “Just remember we are only here for a limited time here” she called out, before I turned and went into the ruins.
Christie smiled, walking up besides Gem as she moves a strand of blonde hair out of her eyes. She turned her head to look at the coyote, as Gem looked over at her. “He has quite an interest in learning about history, or just new stuff in general” the vixen taur said as Gem gave a slight nod at that. Reaching up, to adjust her hat a bit, Gem spoke, “That he does. I don’t know if it’s curiosity, or an eagerness to learn about anything that is unknown to us.” “Well, could be both. But I think it’s a good thing” a voice said telepathically, causing both coyote and vixen taur to jump. Both tails standing up a bit, with the fur bristled out.
The hooded Mautail let out a small chuckle walking closer to the two. “Mau! Don’t scare us like that!” Christie exclaimed as she turned, glaring at the covered alien. The alien just gave a shrug, as the cloak and mask underneath turned to look in her direction and then at Gem. “The advantages of a telepath” she said, bit of smugness in her telepathic voice. The coyote just gave a slight nod, guessing that would be true as she turned to face the ruins again.
But something caught her eye, as she looked back, seeing Mau’s tail, moving slightly as it came up. It was long, about a metre or a bit more, it was thick. The end was so far the only about the Mautail that wasn’t covered, which was bulbous and a purplish green. Gem wasn’t going to pay any attention to it, until she stopped, eyes widening in surprise. There, on the tail’s bulbous end was a mouth, with sharp teeth, grinning at her. “What the?!” she asked, in complete surprise, shaking her head thinking that she would of seen it on the Void-Phoenix, but she can’t remember.
The Mautail looked at her, the tail still grinning as she asked, “What’s wrong, never encountered a Mautail before?” “Well just you, Gem is not that familiar with species” Christie explained, chuckling herself at the coyote’s shock. “Alright, I can explain. That is the reason we call ourselves Mautail, and it’s the only part of us we let anyone see. Want to know the reason, got to gain our trust” Mau said. Gem recalled being told this a few years back as she nodded a bit, “O...ok I do understand.” She could see Christie still smirking out of the corner of her eye, before she turned to look back towards the ruins.
I continued my search through the ruins, carefully to stick to the path of the areas that had already been searched. Didn’t want to disturb the ongoing work after all, sides more information in the discovered parts. Bits and pieces here and there, uncovered artefacts, some looking like pottery, others… I had no idea what they were. My ears turning as I heard someone approaching, close by. “Well, interesting to see what they have brought out, huh?” a voice said, one I heard from the ship. I turned around, seeing one of the Slar’iris, I think it was Araimol. “Yeah, always interesting to see things from the past, even if it’s on another world” I said with a slight nod as I turned back towards the artefacts. I squinted, as I looked at a bit of, writing I think on one of the pots, it looked familiar somehow.
I shook my head as I turned and walked onwards, looking to see Araimol walking just behind me. “So the rest of your group here as well. I take?” I asked as the Slar’iris nods, greenish-yellow eyes darting here and there, looking at the ruins. “Yep, just as we agreed” she said as I nodded softly. “So, Sif and Qeenav around here somewhere. Mau as well I think that was the name?” I asked. “Yeah, they are around. Mau I think went to find Christie, Sif and Qeenav, well not sure. Sif more than likely looking around, she wants to do a sweep” Ariamol replied with a shrug. “Always looking for a fight, that Dire Warrior. But hey, what are you going to do about it, she wants to find more opponents to test her skills on” Qeenav said, as he walked up.
Ariamol’s face lit up as she ran and jumped into his open arms. I couldn’t help but smile, just a little. The two were a couple, mates even, I believe. I looked at both of them, and see the smiles on their faces, the same as when me and Gem hug. I smiled softly to myself; I got lucky with finding Gem. I really should try to have another romantic dinner with her again, just her and me.
“No one around to fight, hmmph. This planet turning out to be a waste” I heard Sif muttering loudly. Though I can’t see the Arctic Wolf, so she maybe she was near us in the ruins. The two small lizards just smiled a bit as they walked off again, trying to find Sif I think. I just chuckled a bit, as I looked through the ruins.
But my mind continued to wander towards Gem and a nice dinner. Shaking my head, I turned and walked back towards the entrance, where I left Gem and Christie. My smiled grew as I saw the coyote standing there and talking. Wearing a nice, tight shirt and jean outfit, though she kept her hat. ‘Defiantly took some dress tips from Silvy’ I thought with a smirk, before walking forward.
“Hey Jack, I thought you were looking at the ruins” the coyote said, a hint of surprise that I was back so soon. “Oh, I was, and will have a look later. But, I want to ask, if you want to come with me. I am thinking of a nice meal, just you and me” I said, as Gem smiled a little, a slight blush under her fur. It still amazes me, she does blush when I ask for alone time. But, then again, I am not sure if it’s cause I often ask her in front of others.
“Sure. But what, back at Freya?” she asked. I shook my head at that, as I looked her in the eyes, smiling still. “No, I meant find a place that sells food we can eat on this planet. No foodpacks, just a nice cooked, as close to home meal as we can get. Like the meal Magicka made for us from time to time, back on Earth” I said, as I gently took her hands in mine. I swear my heart beat must of gone up, when she smiled and nodded. “Sure, Jack. Just you and me” she said with that kind, loving smile on her muzzle.
“Well, you two lovebirds, there is a restaurant, which would fit you. Just head back into town, head off the third street off the main road from the spaceport. Take a right, and there should be one there. In fact, here, my treat you two” Christie said as she pulled out a Galactic Crown stick, which acted like a credit card. I took it with a smile and a nod as I said, “Thanks Christie. See if you can try to make our stay a bit longer?” I asked, as I held Gem’s hand in my own, as the other took the money from Christie. “Sure, I got things to work out anyway. See you two soon” she said with a grin, as we nodded and headed off towards the restaurant.
