Based on an excellent theoretical documentary on how to efficiently reserve precious resources in a post-apocalyptic setting.

Well... Mad Max universe is supposed to happen in Australia.
I guess in California they have a whole other story. Wouldn't be surprised if Elon Musk and his warlords took over a nuclear power plant, using it to power the post-apocalyptic network of car superchargers. No gasoline, no water, no food, no hope, BUT AT LEAST WE GOT PLENTY OF URANIUM!

Loool. You know, solar power is effectively free once it's established....... it really would be a good bet for post-apocalypse.... assuming of course, that there's a sun to shine down on us, and the land isn't just sunk beneath the waves.....
Oh well, we'll have tide-turbine-generated power then!

Solar panels have to be manufactured; you need high-tech factories to do that properly.
An NPP with a 30-year worth of nuclear fuel might be a better bet. After all, most NPPs used in world right now are more than 50 years old. While solar panels slowly decay over time, I think it's about 50% efficiency drop within two decades.
And think about the amount of pirates sailing on the wild seas. There would be tidal turbine scavengers all around the clock. Living close to the ocean might be counter-productive. Think of Viking invasions in the Middle ages. :P

Then let's settle at about 100.000 people, to have a sufficient reserve. We'd need a couple of container ships refitted for dwellings, or a few more passenger ones. Here's my calculation with some provision added:
- 13 large passenger ships, each holding 8.000 = ~104.000 in total
- 4 large container ships, each carrying 18.000 containers with 2 people in each container = ~140.000 in total
But the best solution is to make a "residential" ship, specially made for long-term seasteading.

...or throw away the perfectly usable tapes? Heh. All my 3.5" floppies from the 90s are unreadable, though. Something happens, and they just stop working, even the old utilities like Scandisc or Norton Disk Doctor cannot access them.
Factory-made CDs (CD-ROM) have the data etched an aluminum, I think. These are more durable than organic-based burnable discs (CD-R).

Should probably be said it was referenced from http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net.....20150521134105
Reminds me of http://wastelandweekend.com/ you should check out some of the cosplay there and the vehicles, looks like fun, I'd love to go to a madmax post apocalyptic con.
AMERICA : we have it all (oil, money, food), so we prepare for zombie attack and post-apocalyptic scenario
JAPAN: we have tecnology, money and had many wars, so we prepare for natural disasters, world war 3, titan attack and tentacle rape.
BRAZIL: we only have oil, so we prepare for the worst.

Oh my...I cannot help but think of the song by Tina Turner "We Don't Need Another Hero" from Thunderdome. https://youtube.com/watch?v=Gcm-tOGiva0
I should look up that movie off iTunes, been so long since I last saw it.
Excellent artwork as always!
