The massive stone and granite train station in Bowling Green, Kentucky built along the mainline of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Built in 1925 this station was at one time served by 4 standing passenger tracks, 2 freight sidings, and a through main line track with 30 stopping trains a day at the height of service.
This is a HUGE station for a town the size of Bowling Green which is honestly not that big. The reasoning back in 1925 was that Bowling Green was going to become one of the states major city centers and the station was built to serve a city of 1 Million people. This plan never came to fruition and the population of the town never came anywhere close to a million people.
Thus the town of Bowling Green became a nice mid sized crossroads with a train station befitting a large metropolitan city. Today the station houses the Bowling Green Railpark Train Museum as well as convention halls and several private offices.
