The reason he keeps saying the shit that he does is that he pay's for everything himself. He doesn't have any financial backers telling him "shut the fuck up or im going to cut you off." And sadly, its even getting to the point where his own political party is trying to put a muzzle on him lol.
Bah, the Republican alternatives to Obamacare are supposed to weed out those who are too weak to deserve to live, to ensure that there is more resources for healthy strong specimens.
Whatever it takes to keep the gene-pool pure of undeserving untermenschen!
(Sorry for the black humour, I'll go take a shower now.)

Actually, the ACA is the Republican alternative. The Obama administration was pushing for a system similar to universal health care, like in Europe. It was slated as impossible; too expensive, bad for the economic health of the health care industry, and so on.
This was back when the Republican house was openly doing anything to subvert Obama's plans, no matter what they were.
A compromise had to be found, so the Obama administration basically tried to sell them their own idea, just to get a final decision. And let's be honest here, if everybody worked towards a solution, even one that could be better, it would be more of a success than if just a few people got on board.
So what do we have? A policy designed heavily by conservatives for the purpose of sating lobbyists and their benefactors while also providing assistance to the general public in a way that may have been a plan to make the Obama administration a target of scrutiny by the middle class.
Since this time, the Obama administration has learned to play ball with the house Republicans. And now his popularity rating is even lower.
Honestly. Look at pictures from when he began and now, you can practically see the soul sucked out of him.

I'm on the fence concerning healthcare, perhaps an example from where I'm from can help.

And of course, one needs to take the initiative to stay healthy, instead of relying on a healthcare plan to bail oneself out every time. Most people in America now seem to "overdose" on things like Alcohol, sugar, processed foods...etc

True on all counts. Though it's not entirely the fault of the citizens. Food producers are tricky about sneaking in extra helpings of addictive sugars. In some cases it's much harder to eat healthy because the options don't exist in a convenient form.
Of course paying attention and being taught how to plan meals around calorie restriction would have a large positive effect, but people generally feel that so long as the volume of their meal is modest, they'll be fine. But as stated, size doesn't matter like it used to.

AHA! That explains a lot about those late night talk radio programs I listen to. Some times I'm not certain if I should take them seriously and stay frightened to Death, or learn to laugh at how ridiculous they are. (C'mon... Invisible Lizard people from another dimension influencing the minds of humans in power? ...Really?)
Nitpick: The GOP Elephant has three pentagrams, not five-point-stars.

Given how frothing-rabid the connies were against "satanic" heavy-metal bands during the 80s, and also given their current streak of an amazing lack of self-awareness, I will never let this profound piece of Truth In Advertising slip by.
