This photograph is actually three days off of being exactly one year old, but I thought it was interesting enough to be worth posting up. We had three days of freezing fog prior to this, and literally EVERYTHING was covered in these tiny little icy spikes. They were about a half-inch long, and so soft that if you touched them, they simply turned into powder.

It is an interesting weather condition in which the fog itself is actually right at the freezing point, so if it touches any surface, it instantly freezes on it. It's fairly common at high altitudes, it's the condition that causes icing on aircraft, but having it ground level is somewhat unusual. I was rather happy to have the photo op! :D
