A little project
just something I've been dabbling with, quite proud of the results for something so simple. I encourage anyone with a fondness for games consoles predating the playstation 1 (even including it) to set up an old laptop to be an emulator box, it's pretty sweet.
edit: and I replaced my old playstation style game pad with a couple of snes controller looking ones, so my retro gaming experience is complete.

Yeah, if I had some spare cash lying around. (well, more than the £5 I spent on two controllers) I was thinking about this.. actually I was thinking about getting an ouya and putting something on that.. But yeah, I had an old laptop with a broken screen lying around and was bored..I wish the retropie distro worked on things other than raspberrys cos I want a front end that isn't as ugly as sin. lakka looks like something from the 90s.
Well the retropie uses Emulation Station as it's front end, running atop a slightly customised rasbian (debian) os , which is also an independent project and cross platform. http://emulationstation.org/
ES also supports skins, I'm sure someone out there has made a more 'retro' themed skin for it. if not you could try and make your own, i don't think it's overly complicated to do, though i prefer the default skin myself, i think it looks quite sleek and is easy to navigate.
